Position Summary:

This position performs training operations necessary to build a workforce capable of meeting the demands of electronic assembly for the MIL-AERO market. In addition to providing training to operators, the candidate will also be assisting in process development for new builds and working closely with the manufacturing engineering team ensuring process documents are accurate.  The process trainer will also assist with general training throughout Mtron in areas such as good manufacturing practices, FOD, ESD, safety & security, etc.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Trains operators to J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610 standards in conjunction with Mtron products and requirements.
  • Ensures operators are capable of meeting assembly demands.
  • Provides equipment recommendations and integrates new equipment into production flow
  • Maintains and improves assembly / manufacturing processes on the production floor, working closely with Engineering. 
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by adhering to 5S and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) policies.
  • Suggests updates to production documentation, as needed, in conjunction with Process Engineers. 
  • Trains operators according to documented procedures and policies to meet production throughput  and quality standards. 
  • Trains operators on additional procedures and policies, including safety procedures, ESD, FOD (Foreign Object Debris), and other required training. 
  • Provide timely feedback to managers and supervisors regarding operator progress, performance, and any concerns identified. 
  • Screens and interviews with potential candidates and provides recommendations regarding hiring and operator staffing needs.
  • Participates in MRB (Material Review Board) activities, as needed.
  • Generates process improvements the use of tooling and fixtures,  working with Engineering as required.
  • Participates in concurrent engineering activities
  • Participates in product / process improvement teams.

Supervises: None.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Good writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to interpret PCB layouts
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work productively across department boundaries. 
  • Manual dexterity to operate hand tools, machine controls, and measuring instruments.
  • Knowledge of specifications and testing processes. 
  • Ability to work cohesively in a team environment.
  • Must be able to work with ITAR data without a license;  Eligibility for and ability to maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.

Education, Experience and Training:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in electronics engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field is a plus.
  • Prior (current or expired) IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 certifications required. 
  • 3+ years of dedicated assembly training focused on soldering skills.
  • IPC-J-STD-001 CIT & IPC-J-STD-001 CIT Space Addendum certifications are preferred. 

Physical Requirements and Working Environment:

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach as required. 
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to chemicals, fumes, and related by-products.
