Job Title: Maintenance Technician I-V

Reports To: Facilities Manager

Job Class: Non-Exempt (Hourly)

Pay Rate: Dependent upon experience

Location: Orlando, FL (On-site)

Position Summary:

This position performs various plant maintenance duties and preventative maintenance tasks as defined to ensure manufacturing equipment remains operational and that the facility is in working condition.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintenance Technician I

  • Performs various construction tasks including drywall patches, tile, drop ceilings, painting, moving, etc.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks such as filter changes, equipment cleaning, etc.
  • Performs outside cleaning such as pressure washing and trash pick up
  • Performs painting of facility structures outside and inside
  • Builds various items such as, but not limited to, office furniture, benches, production equipment, etc.
  • Changes light bulbs
  • Cleans and waxes floors
  • Cleans various locations throughout the plant including bathrooms, offices, etc.
  • Improves landscaping as directed
  • General cleanup actions throughout manufacturing plant; dumps trash as needed
  • Takes direction from supervisor and other team members
  • Maintains safe and clean working areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Maintenance Technician II

  • All functions of Maintenance Technician I
  • Performs various maintenance tasks such as valve replacements, valve rebuilding, vacuum pump maintenance, etc.
  • Helps to maintain and abide by all local and state regulations for waste collection and disposal.
  • Perform internal / external plumbing tasks with PVC, copper pipe as required.
  • Performs more complex construction tasks (building walls, etc.)
  • Minor repairs all industrial equipment including, but not limited to: vacuum systems, vacuum pumps, ovens, electrical test equipment, pneumatic devices, valves, etc.
  • Changes light bulbs, electrical fixtures, etc.
  • Support weekend facility checks (alternating).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Maintenance Technician III

  • All functions of Maintenance Technician I-II
  • Perform various troubleshooting on vacuum plating equipment
  • Ensure that vacuum pumps are operational
  • Experience working with AC & DC voltages. 15 volts to 208 volts three phase
  • Experience with Hydraulics preferred
  • Rebuilding vacuum pumps
  • Rebuilding Cryo pumps
  • Modify equipment as needed, to meet production requirements.
  • Experience with welding/brazing.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Maintenance Technician IV

  • All functions of Maintenance Technician I-III
  • Refurbishes complex manufacturing equipment
  • Expanded knowledge working with AC & DC voltages. 5 volt to 480 volts three phase
  • Experience with PLC and control systems
  • Full programming knowledge of PLC controllers
  • Can design and fabricate complex control systems for manufacturing equipment such as thermal shock systems, vapor deposition systems, vacuum ovens, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Maintenance Technician V

  • All functions of Maintenance Technician I-IV
  • Ensures all are compliant with EPA and OSHA requirements
  • Provides direction and leadership to time while Facilities manager is unavailable or on PTO
  • Orders parts for team as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Maintenance Technician I

  • Working knowledge of building systems, including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, and general facilities infrastructure. 
  • Effective verbal communication skills; ability to speak English clearly. 
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English to follow instruction, safety procedures, and communicate effectively. 
  • Basic understanding of electrical and electronic systems as they relate to facility equipment and building operations. 
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow building plans, wiring diagrams, schematics, equipment manuals, and work orders. 
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify, diagnose, and resolve routine facility and equipment issues. 
  • Basic proficiency with computer systems and common office software, including MS Word and Outlook. 
  • Strong organizational skills, dependability, and attention to detail. 
  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with peers, supervisors and other departments. 
  • Ability to work cohesively with peers and supervisors
  • Ability to complete and maintain required training and certification for forklift operation, ladder use, and elevated work activities, and to perform such tasks safety and in compliance with company regulatory requirements. 
  • Must be able to view ITAR data without a license.

Maintenance Technician II

  • All Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities of Maintenance Technician I
  • Working knowledge of basic electrical systems, including VAC circuitry. 
  • Working knowledge of basic plumbing systems and routine plumbing repairs.
  • General knowledge of construction practices, and materials used in facilities maintenance and repairs.

Maintenance Technician III

  • All Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities of Maintenance Technician II
  • Ability to safely perform electrical work on systems ranging from 120VAC to 220 VAC in accordance with safety standards and procedures.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for electrical and facility-related systems.

Maintenance Technician IV

  • All Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities of Maintenance Technician III
  • Working knowledge of PLC programming concepts, including basic ladder logic. 
  • Understanding of complex machinery, equipment layouts, and system integration.
  • Knowledge of AC and DC circuity theory, including basic circuit equations and applied mathematical principles. 

Maintenance Technician V

  • All Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities of Maintenance Technician IV
  • Advanced computer skills, including proficiency with maintenance systems, diagnostic software, and technical documentation. 
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to lead a team and serve as a stand-in supervisor, including coordination work, providing guidance, and supporting training efforts. 

Education, Experience and Training:

Maintenance Technician I

  • 0-3 years of applicable maintenance experience
  • Equivalent military experience acceptable

Maintenance Technician II

  • > 5 years of relevant maintenance experience

Maintenance Technician III

  • > 7 years of relevant maintenance experience

Maintenance Technician IV

  • > 10 years of relevant maintenance experience

Maintenance Technician V

  • > 10 years of relevant maintenance experience
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience is preferred

Physical Requirements and Working Environment:

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach as required. 
  • Ability to safely climb, descend, and work from ladders, stairs, and elevated platforms at verifying heights. 
  • Ability to work in varying environment conditions, including indoor and outdoor settings, temperature variations, and mechanical noise.
  • Manual dexterity to operate hand tools, machine controls, and measuring instruments.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Support weekend facility checks (alternating).
